U19s v AJAX (R14)

Last quarter fade out costs us 4th spot

Lot’s a stake this week as we take on 4th spot Ajax at their home ground.
We were outscored in the first by a couple of gaols and went into the main break 8 points down.
We all know as a group that our second half has been our strength all season and we proved this again in the third,  kicking 4 goals to 2 and head out in the last 5 points in front.

Sadly for the Lions we faded out badly in the last and had no answer as Ajax ran the game out strongly.
Tired legs and a lack execution when required cost us time and time again as we could not run to cover the turnovers.
Ned Withers Matt Kyroussis and Michael Dyer pushed themselves all day and gave us the spark in the third.
Lewis Yeatman broke the lines with his pace and Danny Loughnan shut down their best small forward (copping a couple on the way) with his close checking and hard tackling.
Now we need to look forward for our game under lights against Ormond on Friday night.
If we can channel the hurt after the game and turn it towards Ormond we should see ourselves back in the winning circle.

Scores: Collegians 9.11-65 lost to Ajax 12.13-85

Goal kickers Symington 3, Dyer 2, Penberthy 1, Cassidy 1, Hausler 1,
Marshall 1

Best – Ned Withers, Matt Kyroussis, Dyer, Mullucks, Hausler, Loughnan.
