1986 (25 year) Premiership reunion
A great roll up considering school holidays etc. It was terrific that so many players made the effort to get there and I think the DVD was worn out by the end of the day. In fact it was not just the players who made the effort it was also the Coaches, supporters and Committee members that made the day what it was and they enjoyed the walk down memory lane as much as anyone. Great that Gary Irvine came all the way from Adelaide and Richard Herman made his first Collegians appearance almost since that great day. By the way, the standard of footy was right up there, even the current group acknowledged that. To walk in the room and see all the legends from that era, really brought home to me how much Premierships mean to Clubs. As you would expect the day did drag on and was buoyed by the win against Scotch. The banter behind the goals was first class; I couldn’t get a word in!!!! The Boags flowed freely after the game; high stakes “bin it” was introduced and was like nothing had changed over 25 years, other than the waist lines!!! Thanks to Steve Laussen who pulled the day together and to everyone that came along, much appreciated.
