FROM THE PREZ
BITTER SWEET END TO THE YEAR, ROLL ON 2012....
Not the finish to the year we wanted but something was bound to go astray, at some point, but one door closes, another opens...
DENNIS CASTALDI 'DRAFTED' BY COLLINGWOOD
In somewhat of a surprise to himself and Collegians, Dennis Castaldi has been offered and accepted a job at Collingwood Football Club which will unfortunately mean he cannot coach our Reserves side in 2012. To cut a long story short, Dennis submitted his CV to Collingwood a few years back and heard nothing. Out of the blue mid December he got a call that was not good for Collegians, and he subsequently accepted a part time role in their recruiting talent identification area. Being a die in the wool Pies fan, he jumped at the change to join the Club he has barracked for all his life, and hopes it may one day lead to something bigger.
Dennis had committed to Collegians for 2012 but the opportunity is simply too good to pass up. He is genuinely sad to be leaving at a time when the squad he has put so much time in is ready to take the next step.
Let me make it very clear that while we are all upset Dennis is leaving, he leaves with our best wishes and we thank him for all the hard work he has put in over the past four years. I know he will follow our fortunes closely and support us whenever he can.
CONGRATULATIONS SIMON
AND MEGAN ARNOTT
Simon and Megan got a belated Christmas present when on Boxing Day they were presented with a beautiful baby girl, Lyla. All went well and Bickies is as proud as punch of both his girls as you can imagine. I think I know a baby sitter who is coming home soon!!!!
PREMIERSHIP CUP ON TOUR
While the tour has slowed down a bit the cup is still getting out and about. Former Premiership captain Stuart Hinchen and his family were back in Oz over Christmas (they now live in New Jersey) and we go this picture with his old partner in crime David Hoyle. Between them well over 400 games a few state jumpers, stints on the committee, a captaincy, a life membership, six A Grade premierships and a lifetime of memories, legends indeed. Nonetheless thye are very happy where the club is and just as happy to get their hands on the cup one more time. The stories did get better as the night wore on....

ANOTHER SIDE IN 2012???
Over the past few months we have had a lot of feedback that there are a significant number of players out there who have left the club because they can't get a game each week. In response to this the committee has opened the door to fielding an extra side in 2012. Rob Ferguson has been doing a lot of work and the numbers are starting to stack up. Before we can press the go button we need to recognise a couple of things, a) the extra side will only come in providing the reserves and existing thirds don't suffer re numbers, b) that a minimum of 30 additional players commit, c)we understand that we must field a side in Premier A Thirds, d)that scheduling issues can be overcome and finally that we all understand this does not mean we will field a side in the Club XV111 competition, BUTMOST IMPORTANTLY THE PLAYERS THAT ARE BALLEDGEDLY OUT THERE NEED TO COMMIT NOW, AND FOR THE SEASON, UNCONDITIONALLY. There is a lot of expense and commitment required from the club and we need to be very sure. Nobody wants to be forfeiting or playing short. SO IT'S UP TO YOU, TURN UP AND IT WILL HAPPEN!!!!!!
COACHES WANTED
Given Dennis' departure and the possibility of an extra side we need a couple of coaches. Timing is not great to say the least so we all have to network and identify candidates. If you are interested and or know someone that might be give myself or Mark Hibbins a call asap. 2012 will be a very big year for the club, great time to capitalise on the terrific ground work Dennis' and the boys have put in place. Have a think and give me a call.
GOT A SPARE HOUSE????
Dirk and Lyn Inglis are about to undergo a seachange but they are in hiatus for a month while the new digs settle. If you know anyone that can offer a place for a month or so they would love to hear from you, location not an issue. Call Dirk on 0419 757 574
HOPE EVERYONE SURVIVED THE NEW YEAR, STAY TUNED!!!
